One Voice: Tenebrae & Third Culture Collective

Sunday 6 April 2025

3:30 pm - 4:30 PM

Foyer, Barbican Centre, London, EC2Y 8DS

Join professional choir Tenebrae and Indian classical musicians from Third Culture Collective as we explore Guru Nanak’s Message of Unity in Choir and Raag in a performance at the Barbican Centre in association with Darbar.

Through a series of experimental workshops, the artists have worked together to bridge the differences between their traditions – one rooted in complex harmony and notation, the other in raga-based intricacy and improvisation. The result is a bold exploration of One Voice – a seamless sound world of western choir, soaring Hindustani vocals, and resonant textures of sitar, bansuri, tabla, and harmonium. Under the direction of Kavi Pau and Nigel Short, you will hear reimagined works, new arrangements, and original compositions, all of which embody Guru Nanak’s message of oneness and truth.

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

With grateful thanks to The Marchus Trust.
