India Tour 2022: Performing, Teaching, Collaborating, Researching

It is thrilling to see Third Culture Collective expand internationally, as we begin a 6 month tour of India!

From September 2022 to March 2023, we will be teaching, collaborating and performing with both amateur and professional musicians across India.

We are based at the KM Music Conservatory in Chennai, established by A.R. Rahman, leading collaboration days with the students and working towards a live concert at the Conservatory on 17th December 2022. We will also be travelling to to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Gujarat later in the tour.

When we’re not making music, we’ll be investigating how western classical music is taught across India, authoring a report alongside some of the world’s leading music education organisations including ABRSM, Tenebrae, Sound and Music and The Commonwealth Resounds.

The insights from this research will then inform our and our partners’ outreach work in India and with Indian populations in the UK going forward.

As part of our research, we invite anyone who has ever learned western classical music in India during their childhood to fill out a short anonymous survey:

Our research is split into two phases across six months:

We look forward to sharing the results of our research and further highlights from our tour in due course. Make sure to follow us on social media @3rdculturecoll for the latest updates!
